My New Quilting Bee Project

I've joined a local quilting bee, mainly with the aim of improving my expertise and working (virtually) with like- minded quilters.
Today I got the fist set of instructions and fabric.
This is the block I'm to use for inspiration

It's from Quilt Dad and has a very well explained tutorial , so I shouldn't go far wrong.
Progress to follow!

Learning Curve

I'm still quite new to this blogging thing, which means I need to learn new things. That's good though, right? I recently learnt I was a 'no-reply blogger'  So, rather than people ignoring me, they couldn't actually respond to any questions where the contact needed to be via my email address.
An easy solution was at hand though with help of Jodi at Pleasant Home.
Not only does you offer an easy to follow tutoial, but makes it clear that the information can be passed on. I can't be the only person who didn't know this, can I?

Vintage Fabric

Bit of a long shot, but I thought I'd ask sewing and quilting experts out there, if any of you know anything about this fabric?

The selvedge adge says it's an M.R.H. design 'Artichoke', screen printed in England 1988

The design doesn't look much like artichokes to me, but what do I know? It's lovely shades of pink and brown and feels like it's a really good quality fabric. I've got quite a lot of it, maybe around 4 metres - not measured it yet. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet, but it was too good to not grab on sight. It's in pristine condition, despite the 1988 date stamp. Needless to say, I got it from a charity shop and didn't pay very much, at all. Not bragging, as has been suggested elsewhere, as I paid the asking price fair and square, but it was a real bargain.
If anyone has heard of M.H.R. fabrics, let me know.

Uglies

I've joined the Ugly Fabric Quilt challenge - see button thingy on side bar. Looks like it might be fun. I'll have to look at my still modest stash to find suitably ugly fabric, but maybe I'll throw in something nice, as well. Wonder what I'll get in return?
Many thanks to Diane at The Cheshire Quilter for the link to this.
